Jennifer Archibald founder and Artistic Director of the Arch Dance Company and Program Director of ArchCore40 dance intensives is at the forefront of today’s dance generation of choreographers and dance educators. Having graduated from the Alvin Ailey School and the Maggie Flanigan Acting Conservatory where she specialized in the Meisner technique, she draws on a variety of techniques, experience and styles. Most recently her work has been commissioned by the Atlanta Ballet, Ailey II, Cincinnati Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Kansas City Ballet, Tulsa Ballet II, and worked commercially for Tommy Hilfiger, NIKE and MAC Cosmetics as well as chart-listed singers and actors. In 2017 she will create new works as the resident choreographer for Cincinnati Ballet. Her works have been performed in some of the country’s most prominent venues including New York’s City Center, Lincoln Center, Aaron Davis Hall, Jacob’s Pillow Inside Out Stage and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The international portion of Ailey II’s 31-city world tour premiered Jennifer’s work “Wings” in Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, France, and Canada in 2014. Next season new works will be created for Ballet Nashville, Wylliams/Henry, MADCO, Stockholm’s Ballettakademien and Canadian Contemporary Dance Theater. Balettakademien will tour Archibald’s new work throughout Scandinavia Spring 2017. Archibald’s works have been performed at venues including New York’s City Center, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Aaron Davis Hall and Jacob’s Pillow Inside|Out Stage and Central Park’s Summerstage Mainstage. Jennifer was awarded a Choreographic Fellow for Ailey’s New Directions Choreography Lab under the direction of Robert Battle. She was selected as the Artist in Focus for The Jamaica Performing Arts Center and is a recipient of the “Talk of The Arts” Award from the University of South Florida. She is 2015′s Choreographic Winnings recipient by the Joffrey Ballet. She also choreographed “Seven”, a biographical work about Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee, commissioned by St. Louis based MADCO Dance Company. In 2015 she was appointed as guest faculty lecturer to develop the Hip Hop dance curriculum at Columbia/Barnard College and is currently on faculty at the Yale School of Drama. Jennifer is a guest artist at several universities; Fordham/Ailey, Purchase College, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of South Florida, Goucher College, Columbia College Chicago, and Bates College. This spring she will premier a new work for Miami New World School of the Arts and South Carolina’s Governor’s School of the Arts. She has presented Arch Dance Company nationally having been awarded two National Performance Network grants; and by special invitation to notable dance festivals country wide. Jennifer has staged off-Broadway shows and has choreographed professional theater company musicals. She has worked with chart-listed musicians and actors as a movement specialist and choreographer. She is currently on faculty at STEPS on Broadway, Broadway Dance Centre, Ailey Extension, Gibney Dance and CAP 21 America’s Musical Theatre Conservatory in New York City. She has been on faculty at the Bates Dance Festival, Broadway Theater Project and Florida Dance Festival, Complexions, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Howard University Intensives. Jennifer has completed guest artist residencies and lectures at several secondary and post-secondary institutions in the US and abroad including: Princeton University, University of South Florida, University of Illinois, Virginia Commonwealth University, Goucher College, FAMU, Ailey/Fordham, East Carolina University, and Columbia Dance Chicago. Internationally, she has taught master classes in Brazil, Bermuda, Canada, Slovenia, Sweden, France, Russia, Mexico, China, and Ecuador.
