Shacura Wade was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri where she was introduced to dance through the Center of Creative Arts, or COCA. It was there she received her most influential training. Wade is a 2015 graduate of The University of Missouri-Kansas City with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. She has performed with UMKC, Störling Dance Theather, Kameron N. Saunders, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in a their performance of Memoria, and as an ensemble member of Kansas City’s Friends of Alvin Ailey performance of Setting the Stage. She has also performed with and for Bette Middler, Will Smith, and Phylicia Rashad. Most recently Shacura was a dancer with Opera Theatre St. Louis during the summer of 2016. Following that she performed in 100 Best Companies world companies in New York City; where she is currently based. Ms. Wade has since returned to Kansas City and is ecstatic to be back with Wylliams-Henry for their 25th season.
